Meet the M-43 120mm Mortar
2006-07-04

by: badanov

A WWII Soviet Heavy Mortar Regiment has 18 of these in three batteries.

Soviet mortar shells were an especially nasty thing because they are made of iron, not steel, so when they break apart they break into a bazillion tiny beads.

The M-43 has a minimum range of 480 meters and a maximum range of 6000 meters.

In our Borisov scenario, we have 18 of these deployed plus another battery of 160mm mortars, all for the forward position at Ostrov.

Next turn, all these weapons are fully unlimbered and ready to shoot.

We wouldn't want to be a German soldier after the next turn's fire mission.

It is worth noting this very weapon is still in use by the Russian Army.
