At OU, the hits just keep on happenin.'

AP reports this evening that Oklahoma University running back Adrian Peterson has been suspended from the team for missing a couple of classes. If Peterson doesn't play, will looks unlikely, does this hurt OU?

Definitely.

OU found a way to win last week by running the ball down the throats of Tulsa, 31-15, with Peterson getting the ball 32 times for 232 yards. OU quarterback, Rhett Thompson, gave an astonishingly bad passing performance, going 5-13 passing for 42 yards with two sacks and two interceptions. His rushing was even worse: -13 yards in six carries. Peterson carried OU.

OU is deep in running backs, but could they carry the team the way Peterson did last week?

Next week, OU goes to Los Angeles to play UCLA in their first road game. Unlike Tulsa, or TCU the week before and in front of a fawning home crowd, this is a very good football team, which will not allow OU to make a mistake and not score from it.

UCLA has won two games against two mid-major colleges, at San Diego State of the Mountain West conference and hosting Rice in L.A. Beating both teams decisively.

It will be interesting to see what OU coach Bob Stoops does to play this major Pac10 team. Will he platoon Paul Thompson, the OU quarterback who led the Sooners to their first defeat of the season, after Rhett Bomar's, poor showing? It may be Stoops only choice at the moment, if Bomar plays like he did last week.
