We didn't get to see/hear this game in any meaningful sense, except occasionally glancing at a TV while we were at the bar, but what little we did see was one great basketball game.

Ohio State was outshot by Iowa State 48 to 40 percent, but the Cyclones were ice cold from 3 point range at 15 percent and at the free throw line at 53 percent.

But still Iowa State came within a cat's hair of beating Ohio State.

Ohio State is on its best start since 1991 at 7-0 with solid wins against St. Joseph's and Virgina Tech earlier in the season. Ohio State could go on to challenge what is quickly becoming the top dog in the Big 10, Indiana, for the Big Ten championship.

Iowa State also has two solid wins so far in their 6-2 start, against two Missouri Valley Conference powerhouses, Northern Iowa and Drake. The Cyclones have one more Division I game against South Florida and one non Division I game against Tennessee State before they begin conference play hosting Kansas State January 7th.

Ohio State two two more non Division I games and one more Division I non conference game before hosting Penn State in a four game home stand. Their Division I game on December 31 is LSU, which is 6-1 including a win against West Virginia.

The Buckeyes could easily go to 10-0 before they start conference play.
