Housekeeping note: If you do Twitter, my account is @badanov. My account has been idle but I do plan to become more active over time.

The big news this week is the National Rifle Association meeting in Tennessee. Over the past week I have read a number of snide accounts and remarks about firearms, or accounts of those accounts, nearly all of them from leftists and nearly all of them trading in false or ginned up information.

At the moment, it appears the ATF will be tweaking the definition of "sporting use" firearms with a view of banning "certain types of ammunition", a code word for Russian made ammunition, I suspect. But in the linked article, it appears to affect all shotguns with a pistol grip ever made.

From Connecticut, a congressman, Rosa DeLauro (Commie-Connecticut), offered a bill which would offer anyone with an "assault rifle" under the old ban standard a $2,000 tax credit for giving up their firearm.

The usual hilarity from both the left and right ensued, but I failed to notice if anyone else noticed that this is likely a sop for Connecticut's political leadership addressing the political loggerheads they have encountered in enforcing the AR ban in Connecticut.

At last count, the compliance ratio is about 18 percent, making the law an embarrassing failure. Any more demands from the local Connecticut press to enforce the law now probably will be met with howls of laughter from both inside and outside the state.

As predicted by Rantburger swksvolFF, the left is beclowning itself with dire warnings of social breakdown in the wake of the passage of Constitutional Carry in Kansas. In some ways such views are laughable, but a lot of those people influence lawmakers with money or just pure whining.

I have even read a Facebook post from a female about how she will get a concealed permit, just so she can open fire on anyone she spots with a weapon. Maybe if enough leftists do this, we can begin to refresh the tree of liberty. Such a shame we must start of loudmouthed, petty tyrants.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Prices for pistol ammunition and rifle ammunition were mixed.

Prices for used rifles were higher across the board, while prices for used pistols were mixed.

Note: In one week, prices for .223 55 Gr. ammunition dropped by more than 10 percent per round, while prices for 7.62x51 145 Gr. NATO dropped by almost seven percent.
