Subject: Weekly Summary of Combat Operations, from September 17th to September 23rd Inclusive.

Message begins:

The tempo of combat operations continued at a reduced pace.

Chernarus Defense, Naval and air forces have engaged in two operations in two regions.

1) 3rd Bn, Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade received a warning order from brigade command that a large separatist armor force would be moving through Werferlingen city in Werferlingen Friday morning, September 17th.

The task force rushed to Werferlingen, and arrived in time for brigade command to issue a new set of orders: The task force would be ordered to hold a position about two kilometers northwest of the city.

Tanks and the BRDM scout car crossed the river first. Both tanks then moved to a position about 600 meters to the southeast of the objective. The three rifle squads then moved across the river.

Both tanks and the scout car turned out to be way out of position as enemy armor consisting of one T-55 and one BMP-1 came into contact with command squad and 2nd squad as they were moving to the objective.

Both rifle squads were destroyed, but for the task force second in command. 3rd squad, which originally was tasked with covering roads leading into the railyard became the tactical command squad.

Game rules are that the player must be within 400 meters of the objective before retreat orders can be issued, otherwise the game can't end properly.

Commander approached the objective from the west side then received orders to retreat back to base.

Losses were heavy. As mentioned before command and 2nd squad were wiped out but for the second in command. The remnants of the task force retreated back to a designated rally point in good order.

Field counts of enemy vehicle losses included two T-55 tanks and one BMP-1.

2) On Saturday September 18th, an armored task force was assembled from 1st Bn Chernarus 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade owning to a warning order issued by brigade operations staff.

The warning order said that separatist forces would attempt to take over the town of Leskovets, pushing through a narrow corridor to the eastern flank of 1st Bn's security zone.

Only minutes after the full force arrived did brigade command issue new orders to advance to a new objective two kilometers northeast, where the separatists were expected to mass their forces for a final push.

The advance had problems. Under conditions where an enemy has changed his plans, several pockets of resistance could appear at unexpected places. The bulk of the task force was rushed to the new area.

2nd squad encountered a rifle force on the eastern side of the new objective, but as it was advancing to its new position, it was attacked by RPG fire and destroyed in its entirety.

Meanwhile to the west, both tanks of the task force were exchanging tank gunfire with several enemy armor vehicles, defeating them handily. Command squad, whose job was complicated with having to deal with its and 2nd squad's coverage of the objective, was attacked by several enemy rifle squads.

Near continuous firefights took over, and were so intense, command squad was forced to retreat under better cover. As it re-established its front, an RPG gunner destroyed the BTR. 3rd squad, delayed in its deployment, became the task force command element.

Meanwhile, reinforcements had been rushing to the new objective. The reinforcing BTR squad came under enemy fire south of Leskovets, was pinned and unable to move. Both tanks deployed at the objective were damaged and unable to move.

Deciding to relieve the only other BTR squad, 3rd squad set out t0 the south but was ambushed and destroyed by an RPG gunner.

Casualties were heavy. Two BTR rifle squad were wiped out by enemy RPG fire. Two tanks were disabled. Enemy losses were even heavier with field counts putting their losses at two T-55s, two T-34/85s, two BMPs and two BTR-80As.
