This is an interesting treatment of publicly funded sports stadiums by journalist John Stossel.

The anecdotes he tells in this story is similar to something that happened to Oklahoma City in the 90s.

The minor league ball park, funded through sky high sales taxes in Oklahoma City, was named the SBC Ballpark at Bricktown.

Why?

Because SBC paid for the scoreboard, they had, according to the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City Council, the right to name the stadium after themselves.

Now, we like baseball games and we like nice stadiums, but that little bit of political gamesmanship just made no sense at all.
