Hollyweird's appetite for bloodthirsty tyrants and thugs, knows no bounds and transcends generations.

Starting in the 1930s through the 1950s with Josef Stalin, continuing in the 1960s with Castro, the 1970s with Pol Pot, the 1980s with Daniel Ortega, then a ten year respite as they rubbed their collective behinds from having international socialism's ass kicked so hard, they have taken up a new cause: the Dalai Lama.

Only this time their embracing of this thug is different, in that instead of trying to convince people the guy standing in the dark corner with the blood-dripped knife, is really a nice guy, they get to convince the world that the Dalai Lama cuts a different standard.

He hasn't taken power yet.

Somehow, even knowing as we do about the brutal feudal system the Dalai Lama was about the inherit, the sorry record of the Rich and Famous' support for dictators whose very existence is antithetical to their industry doesn't bode well for the people of Tibet.

Most hilarious is that great arbiter of Tibetan social justive Dave Matthews had a few words to say. From TFA:

Friday's final panel discussion also included singer Dave Matthews, who thanked the Dalai Lama for coming to Seattle in light of the situation in Tibet.

"You must be in a lot of pain for your people," Matthews said.

It's only fair, I guess, considering the pain Tibetans would be in following a return of the Dalai Lama system to Tibet.
