This is just a poll from last month. Really it means nothing. What is intersting is that LSU is even in the top ten. The writer here, Stewart Mandel, seems to think that new coach Les Miles will just step in and the Tigers will become terrors of the SEC.
I think LSU fans have a surpise coming their way no matter how well the Tiger perform, when Miles' system starts to break down just after their seventh game or so. It will be worse for them if the Tigers get hit with injuries.
A second intersting element, and one I will cover in some depth in a later post is that Alabama is being left out of the top 25 with Auburn in. My best guess at this early point is that Alabama will become a defensive giant this season and will ruin a lot of days for a lot of strong SEC teams.
Auburn, for example, has lost a lot of players and is fielding a young team, but despite that, this poll has them in the top 25, Athlon Sports, has them in the top ten.
Guess we'll have to see then, huh?
