LSU running back Alley Broussard hurt his knee during scrimmage Saturday and is expected to be laid up for the season, according the LSU athletic website, and Roto-News.

Broussard was the Tiger's top running back with 867 yards in 2004 and was a Pre-season All SEC Second Team selection for running back.

LSU now must contend with a running game with two less experienced running backs. According to Roto-News, Broussard's injury is a serious blow to LSU.

The AP reports, however, that Broussard's loss is not severe blow because LSU is deep in running backs, has an outstanding offensive line and fast receivers. The sentiment is, then, that game control will be the key to LSU chances in the SEC.

No decision has been made as to Broussard's replacement, as yet. Roto-news indicates that Joseph Addai is at the top the the LSU depth chart for the position. Three running backs are competing for the job, but Addai is considered the prime candidate replace Broussard.
