Arizona State took the game to Mid-American Conference visitor Temple University, crushing them 63-16 in a display of the strong passing attack of Sam Keller and 300 yards rushing.

Keller threw for 208 yards and six touchdowns with 2 interceptions leading the Sun Devils to victory in Arizona State's home opener.

While the ASU passing and running attacks were running on all cylinders, the Temple Owls could not get a running game going, with three Sun Devil running backs having more yardage than the high total for Temple running back Umar Ferguson, who finished the night with 42 yards on 16 attempts.

Temple scored their first touchdown and PAT on a nine play, 49 yard drive in the closing moments of the third quarter when Josh Bundy took the ball in on a one yard run with 00:14 left in the third quarter. Temple quarterback Mike McGann threw 18-37 for 201 yards including a touchdown pass to Ferguson in the fourth quarter.

ASU was ranked 20th by the AP and almost certainly advances in the polls this week.

Arizona States goes to Louisiana to play Louisiana State next week in a nationally televised game on ESPN, at 1900 CDT.

The Temple Owls go to Wisconsin next week in a regionally televised game on ESPN, at 1210 CDT.
