Interesting story from slashdot about Novell's web server being defaced. There is no news as to how it was hacked, but our guess would be a successful dictionary attack.

In the comment was this interesting link, from a site that keeps track of defaced web servers.

The distribution of the attacks are as follows:

Freebsd 25
Linux 250
Win 2003 250
Win 2000 750

A good number of the Linux attacks take place in Australia, and there is no data is these servers were on a similar network segment. If they were, it would indicate an inside job.

If you have something to add, Fire Away!
