The tempo of combat operations continued at a reduced pace.

Chernarus Defense, Naval and air forces have engaged in three operations in two regions.

1) On Friday morning, separatist forces commanders demanded the mayor of Wellendorf in Rosche turn over about two dozen citizens they said they wanted to be put on trial as enemies of the people. The mayor refused.

The separatists responded by saying if the mayor did not do as told, they would launch an all out assault, take over the town, and execute the people they wanted to put on trial.

The mayor appealed to Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade commander for help. Two trucks were sent to Wellendorf, along with a task force with the mission of protecting the civilian evacuations.

Infantry attacks began soon afterwards. Forward deployed tanks stopped most of the attacks coming from the northeast, but several Saharani riflemen infiltrated into town, complicating the evacuation.

A separate attack with BRDMs took place from from the west, which was stopped by RPG fire. Enemy RPG fire from riflemen attacking from the northwest also destroyed Scout 2 BRDM.

Directly after the retreat order came down, command squad began a sweep of the town to clear out enemy infiltrators. Once that task was completed, the infantry element of the task force was able to to retreat to safety.

Casualties were moderate. Command squad lost three, 2nd squad lost seven and 3rd squad lost two. The civilians were safely evacuated.

2) Despite continual warnings by battalion and company commanders against sending light unsupported recon units north of the river in Werferlingen, operations staff of 43rd Mountain rifle Corps sent a recon force to Ribbensdorf Saturday morning.

On arrival, the recon commander reported separatists gathering troops to make an assault on the town. Corps senior commanders ordered the recon units to stay put and then requested a covering force to relieve them.

The covering force from 3rd Bn Chernarus 10th Separate Tank battalion went to Ribbensdorf as quickly as possible to hold off the enemy attack and assist in evacuating the recon units.

By the time the infantry section arrived, the recon force was cut to just two effectives, their transport vehicles were either damaged or destroyed, and the route from the battalion forward zone was compromised.

The enemy suffered some losses including one T-55 tank, one BTR-80A and at least two BRDM scout cars. One enemy element got to within three kilometers of 3rd Bn's forward zone before being destroyed by a tank.

Losses were moderate. 2nd squad lost seven, while 3rd squad lost two. Command squad lost one. One transport truck was destroyed.

3) Saturday night Chernarus 13th Separate Mountain Motorized Rifle Brigade recon staff issued a warning order about an armor heavy separatist attempt to take over the town of Rhode in Werferlingen.

Intermittent heavy rains characterized the environment in the operation, as the task force made the road march to Rhode. The tactical plan was for the rifle section to deploy in town along an east-west line, with a tank and one BRDM scout car positioned in the east.

Infantry attacks began in the arc covered by command squad. Terrain and the rains allowed enemy rifle units to close to within 100 meters before being spotted and fired on. Two such attacks were made, with the second detected 500 meters from the northern edge of town.

Meanwhile, south of the river, the task force logistics section was stopped in Rennau when one of the two repair trucks overturned in town. A second repair truck, escorted by an infantry tank detachment, ran into enemy technicals, with the repair truck being destroyed.

Armor attacks took place shortly thereafter, with the great bulk of them coming from the east. In the forward arc of command squad, one BMP came to within 300 meters of command squad before being stopped by command and 2nd squad RPG gunners.

Tanks took a hand in the fighting as well, especially in the east, where a variety of enemy armor vehicles including tanks were destroyed by tank gunfire. One friendly BRDM scout car was destroyed by enemy tank gunfire, but it was the only friendly armor casualty in the operation.

The commander selected Ahmstorf as rally1, 1.5 kilometers to the east. After the retreat order came down, the remaining BRDM scout car left, then 2nd squad. As 2nd squad left, another three enemy armor vehicles appeared, pinning down the retreat.

The tank holding the eastern wing dispatched all three, one T-55, one T-35/85 and one BMP-1, allowing the continuation of the retreat.

Casualties were moderate with 3rd squad losing two and 2nd squad losing one. One BRDM scout car was destroyed.

Enemy losses were catastrophic. Field counts put the enemy losses at six BMPs, two BTR-80As, two T-55s one T-34/85 and one BRDM.

A similar enemy operation took place early last month, but with lighter losses for the enemy. Brigade recon staff expects the enemy has been checked in this area for the time being.
