Pretty funny.
Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs has been accused of running a hate site for years now based solely on less then one or two percent of the posts on his site that were over the top.
In the intervening time, one or two blogs have surfaced to “watch” his site for hate speech. One of them was LGF watch run by someone who is “Keeping an eye on those rabid racists at Little Green Footballs.” We post there too, by the way.
Why “watch” a site you consider to have “hate speech?” We dunno either but we guess it keeps them off the streets. Nice work if you can generate an income from it.
Anyways, this LGF Watch blog posted this message on 7 July, 2005:
We've been watching them for quite some time now. Their hate-filled manifestos and their ex-hippy leader. The way they thrive on terror. The way they lap up news of murder and mutilation. The way they claim to know the solution to all the world's problems despite being nothing but spoiled kids with too much time on their hands and a willingness to overlook even basic humanity while justifying the actions of those who would murder in the name of an abstract noun.
The time has come to stop paying attention to what the Little Green Footballs and their 'king' Charles F Johnson are saying. The day they exploited a mass killing in London, the city most of us live in, to further their nasty ideology, that day is the day we stop paying them any attention.
Blogs come, and blogs go. LGF's popularity has been on the decline for some time now and most of its former friends have abandoned it after seeing just how badly Johnson and his minions can twist logic to suit their agenda. We've decided that for all the anger LGF provokes, it can safely be ignored from now on, because Johnson's repeated mistakes have undermined his credibility to such a degree that hardly anyone takes him seriously anymore. We hope we're right.
Just weird.
Our observations on Charles Johnson is that the guy was absolutely devastated by 911. If you read his blog pre-911, you get the sense here was a fella who just wants to talk about cultural news and maybe about biking,
As the focus on whom attacked the US became clearer, so did Johnson as he pointed out the contradictions the left was making to push their agenda in the face of a threat from Islamic killers and how the Global War on Terror wasn't just about a lot of special ops guys; it required an informed citizenry. Along the way he attracted a following, some of whom are quite strident in their tone as they deal with Islam and the GWOT. It is on those very few folks the crazy folks at LGF Watch have concentrated their energies.
Now comes a shift in strategy. Now, they want to declare victory over LGF and ignore the guy.
We got $20 that sez they won't.
