It has been a while since we stopped by LGF Watch, a leftist blog dedicated to being critical of Charles Johnson's Little Green Footballs weblog.

We have mentioned these two together before because of a statement made by the LGF Watch operator stating he was quitting, and we had a trivial amount that said he wouldn't do it.

And he didn't. We wonder why didn't anyone take our action?

Anyways, in the linked article is a dicussion about an online organization of private Jewish groups which have put together a Windows based desktop tool that announces to those who download it, articles, video and other content on the internet which may concern those who support Israel.

Charles Johnson is a huge supporter of Israel ( so are we, but we are a large supporter in a metaphysical rather than 151,000 users per day sense.) and has been accused of being in the direct pay of "World Zionism" or somesuch.

We have not had the occaision as yet ot inquire about their tool; it appears to us, without having actually looked at the inner workings or any description of how it works, that this is an instant messenger program, a one way IM similar to ICQ and similar programs, except that the owner of the desktop tool doesn't respond to the news alerts broadcast.

The installed tool, relying on a permissive SPI firewall, likely checks frequently for updates to the centeral node and then the tool connects with the central node to download the updates to display on a users desktop.

Pretty ingenious, iffin you ask us.

The concept, as a public relations tool, is clearly invaluable especially in these times of the rapidly slipping away objectivity and balance of traditional news outlets, AKA Main Stream Media. The last thing that pro-Israel groups and individual want to see are planted material by anti-semetic elements spread across the globe without trying to counter it.

The umbrella groupo which disseminates this tool is called Give Israel Your United Support and is, according to their very mission statement, a non-government entity composed of various pro Israel organizations.

That is not good enough for LGF Watch, which not only states that Charles Johnson is in the pay of Israeli government, but hints by omitting identifying the government, the US government.

Pretty goofy stuff. Follow many of the sympathetic links about leftist bloggers which have been "attacked," as they put it, by GIYUS folks.

We wanted to present this material because we were frankly impressed with the concept of providing to a sympathetic user using instant messaging technology.

If you have something to add, Fire Away!
