Dartmouth proceeded in 1974, according to the article, to begin the task of removing references to Indians under the pretense using Indian names as college mascots were offensive to Indians.

Now comes an apology for even scheduling a mens ice hockey game to be played in 2007 against the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux.

The character of this insanity to remove Indian references on the pretext using name is somehow offensive is misanthropic. Without even going into why Indian references were chosen by some coleges to begin with, anti-Indian elements at Dartmouth express their revulsion to an idea only Nazis and their adherants would consider: That a tribute would come to be seen as a cultural insult.

Only a societal element so cynical could conceive that using Indian names to describe athletic teams were offensive, and were originally concieved as an insult to Indians.

And Dartmouth and their Ivy league of schools are considered to be elite educational institutions turning out leaders?

Puleez.

We don't need spoilt chldren pretending to lead in this country, the results on the 2006 midterms notwithstanding.

Besides, what does it say about a university athletic department that they allow themselves to go 2-8 in football in the Ivy league?

That would be like the Dawgs going 4-4 in NCAA Div. II football.

The university would be better off apologizing for their poor showing in college football, before all that moral preening begins over their moral superiority.

Go Fighting Sioux! Kick Dartmouth's ass!

If you have something to add, Fire Away!
