We weren't trying to turn the shovel on Kentucky's season. Kentucky has year in and year out one of the best college hoops programs in the nation but last year and up until three games ago, it appeared Kentucky was in hard times.

Saturday afternoon, the Wildcat defeated Lousiville in a road game we didn't expect them to win. Lousiville happens to be one of the better programs along with Kentucky and a bitter rival of the Wildcats, and at the time at 5-2.

The Wildcats have their problems, however. They were slow starting. Louisiville threw up every defense in their book against Kentucky and against the Wildcat's star center, Randolph Morris and it almost caused Morris to foul out of the game early, In fact, the announcers at the CBS broadcast commented that up to his third foul Morris played a total of 80 seconds.

Kentucky does have a problem with turnovers, the bane of a rebuilding program. Lousiville's full and half court press defenses kept the Wildcats supressed in their shooting early, but ultimately, it proved to be insufficient.

The Wildcat defense took hold holding the Cardinals to 27 percent from the field and an anemic 12.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Louisville's star forward David Padgett carried the team the best he could with 3 blocked shots and team high 16 points.

This road game capped a thus far three game win streak for the Wildcats including home court wins against Chattanoogam and Indiana. Kentucky has four more non-conference games before they start conference play at Mississippi, Jan. 6th.

Maybe Kentuky is out of the woods with this young team of theirs.

Lousiville has a five game home stand, their tougest against Miami, before they begin a two game road trip starting at Notre Dame
