Incredible Finish at the Fiesta Bowl subject logo: COLSPORTS

A two point conversion play ended in overtime the Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and Oklahoma sealed a victory for Boise State 43-42.

We didn't publish it, but our thinking was that Oklahoma would finish off Boise State in humiliating fashion. Oklahoma fullback Adrian Ptersen was going to suit up, and Oklahoma has just come off an incredible season in which they weren't even expected to go the Big 12 Championship game and win it as well.

We are no OU fan, but coach Bob Stoops has been an incredible presense in Okahoma athletics, pretty classy individual from what we hear, and a true gamer as a coach. With everything being equal in a football game, the Stoops factor was worth a point or two.

But the gamer got gamed big time in the last few seconds of the regulation, and espcially the two point conversion that gave Boise State the game.

We have to admit that for all the football games, pro and college we have ever seen we had never seen a statue of liberty play until last night, and this one play the Oklahoma defense bought, because the play was sold so well.

So, we have to rely on those experts who have seen the Statue of Liberty play to appreciate how well it was executed.

Don't get us wrong about Boise State: twenty games ago or so, Georgia played Boise State in their season opener and just smacked the Broncos in football. That game colored our perceptions of both the Dawgs and Boise State, a perception which would come back the last few days and bite us hard in the ass.

Will we make the same mistake again? Sure, we will. I mean, after all, OU got snookered by them.

If you have something to add, Fire Away!
