The Odd Journey of Mike Penner subject logo: CULTURE

Two and a half years ago I wrote a blog entry remarking how L.A. Time sportswriter Mike Penner should have fought harder over the changes he apparently wanted right along.

Naturally, I hold some disdain for men or women who want to alter their "sexual identity," whether they are successful in hiding it or not.

Leaving aside the question of propriety, transgenderism is a deception on society, against society if you to be open about it, and against society and yourself if you prefer to foster the deception yourself. It demonstraes an incipient hostility homosexuals have for others.

Homosexuality is exhibitionism. It is praised in American media because it is grist for that mill. Media loves to parade homosexuals in front of the public because at its base and after 40 plus years of media preaching publicly otherwise, homosexuality is still not acceptable behavior, and it likely never will be despite all the cheering on.

That is why we got this story back in 2007 with Mr. Penner parading himself around for all the world to see, and why it is not such a big deal now.

Penner apparently after making his change, reverted from his female name of Christine back to his given name of Mike the very next year.

Mike Penner's journey was a waste on so many levels. It was a waste of medical resources; it was a waste of his life in taking it; it was a waste of media resources assigning a writer to describe the hubris of a confused writer for the masses, which taken as a whole probably didn't want to hear about it anyway. It was unnecessary pain delivered to his family, his ex-wife as well as any number of others.

It was a terrible example of how to live a life.

Ultimately Penner's weird journey was as emblematic of the world of homosexuals as any depiction of it Americans are constantly bombarded with regularly.

And it is just as pathetic.

If you have something to add, Fire Away!
