The Sporting News writer, Matt Hayes, has compiled a pre-season look of the SEC, but in all the paragraphs he writes, the most newsworthy is that Alabama could play in the SEC title game.

Hard to disagree. It has been our contention since spring that Alabama will essentially be a dark horse this year, and we came to the conclusion because of the experienced defense coach Mike Shula will start this year. A lot of great opposing team fan expectations could be crushed this year by the Rolling Crimson Tide.

Hayes adds in his story that the Alabama quarterback, Brodie Croyle, must remain healthy this year for Alabama to vie for an SEC championship berth, adding Alabama is underrated.

Again, it's hard to disagree with that assessment.

Alabama also has a rather accommodating schedule this year. The Florida, Tennessee and LSU games are all played at home this year, with Auburn played on the road. So, the possibilities are rather encouraging for Alabama, but Shula has to take advantage and the offense must remain healthy.

Alabama opens its season at home against Middle Tennessee September 3rd.

If you have something to add, Fire Away!
