Ten Mexican Federal agents were killed and 15 were wounded in an ambush on Lengua de Vaca Zitäcuaro highway near Toluca, Michoacan Monday, according to Mexican press reports.

The agents were riding in a ten vehicle convoy near a bridge when they were attacked by armed suspects. The firefight lasted two hours. The agents managed to kill and wound an undisclosed number of attackers. The wounded agents were transferred to different area medical facilities.

Reports are the attack began when armed suspects blocked the convoy with a truck and open fired on the agents with heavy weapons and hand grenades.
