Terry Bowden reinforces his argument that Ohio State will be in the top four for college football. He adds in his column that most of the Big 10 teams can beat any other team on any given day. So, it seems likely that schedule does matter this year even more than before.
Under that scenario, Ohio State has the best schedule with all their toughest games at home, but they play in Ann Arbor against Michigan. The Buckeyes also host Texas at home, not an easy prospect for either team..
A fourth team he mentions as a top contender for the conference title game is Purdue, which will be returning all starters to its defense. Purdue also doesn't play the other top contenders in the Big 10 in its schedule. Bowden mentions that Purdue last year went 0-4 against ranked teams.
