Meeting Engagement in Veshnevye in North Zagoria

A task force formed from the 10th "Black Russians" Tank Brigade attacked the village of Veshnevoye from the south, while enemy forces were entering the village and taking up defensive positions.
The main task force rifle squad, Command Squad, led the assault against a determined enemy defensive effort, as 2nd Squad and a small mechanized cavalry tank-borne rifle squad attempted to gain the southern reaches of the village.
Command Squad lost its BMP-2 and crew when confronting an enemy BMP-2, which was subsequently, and quicky destroyed by the task force's tank platoon. Both the T-55 tank and the small mechanized cavalry squad were destroyed.
With both the task force's BMP-2s were destroyed and a new order from battalion command staff directing the task force to a location about one km northwest of Veshnevoye, the task force commander was left with two reduced mechanized cavalry rifle squads to defend Veshnevoye, and one full strength cavalry rifle squad to defend the new objective.
Enemy armor and infantry attacks at the new objective continued, with the task force remnants armor defeating the vehicles, and Command Squad remnants and the mechanized cavalry squad defeating the advances of enemy infantry.
Casualties were heavy with Command Squad losing four including the vehicle crew and BMP-2, and 2nd Squad losing seven also including its BMP-2 and the vehicle crew. One T-72 tank was desroyed.
Field counts of enemy losses included two T-55 tanks, two T-34 tanks, five BMP-2 one BMP-1 and two BTR-80A.
