The task force, led by Lt. Belobodorov began the operation, began the nine km approach march towards the late evening in a light rain.
Several enemy mobile forces already were deployed in town, but were quickly destroyed by task force T-72 tanks, as the two BMP rifle squads and one mechanized cavalry rifle squad (desants aboard a T-55 tank) fought their way into the village.
Additionally, three more mechanized cavalry rifle squads approached the village on foot.
Defending enemy infantry, including Russian special forces, Serb and Spanish regulars were swept away by friendly infantry attacks, all the while aiding in the destruction of enemy light wheeled and heavy wheeled vehicles.
The task force commander's tactical plan was for Command Squad to occupy a position to the northwest edge of Yashkul', as 2nd Squad took up a position at the crossroads in the village. The three mechanized cavalry rifle squad took up defensive positions in the western, northern and eastern edges of the village.
The task forces mobile, antitank, heavy armor and infantry forces prevented the enemy takeover.
Friendly casualties were light.
Field counts of enemy losses included three T-55 tanks, one T-34 tank, one T-72 tank and five light and one heavy technicals.
