OPERATION OP2607-31-7

DATE: 06 AUG 2026

1. SITUATION

1.1. Enemy Activity (Prior 7 Days):
Intelligence staff of 3rd Battalion, 10th Separate Tank Brigade, received multiple reports (electronic intercepts and HUMINT from local agents) indicating enemy plans to seize the village of Ivanovka, North Zagoria. Over the preceding six months, 3rd Battalion had conducted several operations in the Ivanovka area to counter enemy efforts to consolidate control of the village and exploit it as a lodgment for further incursions south. Concurrently, organized crime elements affiliated with the enemy conducted kidnappings, shootings of civilians (including women and children), and forced deportations. These activities served a dual purpose: depopulating the village and providing coerced recruits for local militia forces. This pattern is consistent with standard enemy operational methodology in the region.

1.2. Friendly Forces:
3rd Battalion dispatched a task force in standard configuration:

Armor: 3 x T-72 tanks

Mechanized Infantry: 2 x BMP rifle squads

Supporting Elements: 4 x UAVs, 2 x scout cars (BRDM), 2 x Sukhoi fixed-wing ground interdiction fighters.

1.3. Tactical Command:
Lieutenant Belobadorov, an experienced and respected tactical commander, was designated as Task Force Commander.

2. MISSION

At mission commencement, Ivanovka was unoccupied by enemy forces. LT Belobadorov's intent was to occupy the village and establish a defensive posture to repel all expected enemy counterattacks.

3. EXECUTION

3.1. Initial Disposition:

Ivanovka is situated adjacent to a dry creek bed with steep banks (village on west side, barren terrain on east).

Previous operations employed at least one tank on the east side to provide commanding observation of northern approaches. While tactically advantageous, this position exposed armor to concentrated tracked vehicle and anti-tank fire.

LT Belobadorov elected NOT to occupy the east side, instead concentrating forces within the village to counter anticipated massed enemy counterattacks from the northwest, northeast, and due north.

3.2. Deployment:

Tanks were deployed hull-down to the immediate west and north, with good fields of fire against approaching enemy armor.

A mechanized cavalry rifle squad (aboard a T-55 tank) was positioned to block the main east-west road.

The bulk of friendly reinforcements were held well to the south pending the Commander's assessment.

One BMP squad (2nd Squad) was pinned approximately 4 km south of the objective by an enemy gunship and refused to advance, leaving only Command Squad as the sole infantry element engaged in the village.

3.3. Course of Action:

Approximately 5 minutes after entering the village, Battalion Command Staff ordered the task force to advance 1 km north to preempt an expected enemy approach.

LT Belobadorov refused the order, opting instead to defend the village against large-scale enemy counterattacks supported by medium and heavy tracked armor.

The BMP infantry fighting vehicle was destroyed by long-range enemy tank fire, leaving Command Squad without heavy direct fire support.

Command Squad conducted aggressive tactical maneuvers, advancing 200–300 meters toward enemy positions, then withdrawing under heavy fire to rearm and administer first aid. This cycle continued for approximately 20 minutes.

3.4. Withdrawal and Final Engagements:

Friendly reinforcements arrived and began garrisoning the northern edge of Ivanovka.

LT Belobadorov received orders to return to base. En route, enemy forces established an armor block on the main road, isolating friendly forces.
v Task force ammunition was critically low, including anti-tank rockets. Only the Commander and one other soldier retained AT capability.

LT Belobadorov dispatched two tanks to engage the enemy armor block. Tank commanders reported destroying two enemy BMPs.

Upon arrival, Command Squad observed four BMPs. LT Belobadorov engaged and destroyed one with an AT launcher.

4. CASUALTIES AND LOSSES

4.1. Friendly:

Personnel: Command Squad – 4 KIA/WIA (approx. 1/3 strength). 2nd Squad – 0 casualties.

Equipment: 1 x BRDM scout car destroyed; 1 x T-72 tank damaged; 1 x BMP infantry fighting vehicle destroyed.

4.2. Enemy (Field Estimates):

7 x BMPs destroyed

2 x light technicals destroyed

2–3 x T-55 tanks destroyed

2–3 x T-34 tanks destroyed

5. CONCLUSION AND OBSERVATIONS

5.1. Tactical Assessment:
Despite significant numerical disadvantage and loss of heavy fire support, friendly forces inflicted disproportionately heavy losses on enemy mobile formations. LT Belobadorov demonstrated exceptional professionalism, tactical acumen, and situational awareness. His refusal to comply with a premature advance order—subsequently validated by the intensity of enemy counterattacks—preserved combat effectiveness and prevented likely catastrophic losses.

5.2. Command Climate:
LT Belobadorov maintained high morale and cohesion within Command Squad, effectively managing ammunition resupply, casualty evacuation, and tactical repositioning under sustained fire. 5.3. Intelligence Estimate: Brigade intelligence staff advises that fighting in the Ivanovka sector is expected to continue and intensify. Enemy commitment of significant armored and special forces assets indicates a high priority for control of the area.

6. RECOMMENDATIONS

Commend LT Belobadorov and Command Squad for courageous and effective action under extreme duress.

Review communications and tactical control measures regarding reinforcement movement to mitigate future delays caused by enemy air interdiction.

Ensure adequate anti-tank ammunition allocation for infantry elements in future operations in armor-heavy threat environments.
v Consider reconnaissance and/or occupation of the east bank of the creek bed in future operations to deny the enemy an unobserved avenue of approach.
