Here's some interesting information.

Former Russian GRU Lt. Col Igor Bezler released a video taken two days ago in which he said he was mugging for the camera in Poltava oblast. Bezler had a number of things to say in the video which will be part of my offerings to the Journalism Gawd for Monday at Rantburg.com.

But what is significant is that he is said to have been involved in the taking of Crimea earlier in the year, was a police chief in Gorlovka in Donetsk, and then a senior formation commander for Donetsk republic. He left two months ago to parts unknown before he surfaced in Poltava.

It looks like, to me anyway, that Moscow withdrew Bezler and then assigned him to be a guerrilla commander for Poltava oblast.

Poltava oblast has deep historical significance in Russian history as it is the site where Peter the Great defeated the Swedish Army. If Bezler can scare up an underground and start operations in Poltava, what a coup that would be.

It is worth adding at this point Bezler addressed members of the Ukrainian military telling them they should turn their bayonets around and make for Kiev. This is an old slogan invented by the Soviets during WWII and addressed to German troops in Russia.

But since Bezler is such a liar, it is possible he also has been assigned to Kharkov, where the Ukrainian security services has dismantled a guerrilla operation (at least a part of it) which appeared to have ties with Moscow.

If you have something to add, Fire Away!
